The Trio: Mark

Light: The Trio: Mark thrives in bright, indirect light. A south or east facing window is ideal. Six or more hours daily keeps the colors vivid and the growth compact.

Water: Water when the substrate is dry, not on a schedule. Insert the included bamboo skewer two inches into the substrate. If it comes out damp, wait. If it comes out dry, water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom.

When in doubt, wait. Succulents recover from drought far more easily than from excess water.

The Trio: Mark has been planted to order, settled for 48 hours, and packed specifically for transit. When the box opens, everything is already done.

Everything here is dark. Two matte black ceramics - one cylinder, one square - and a corrugated dark metal cylinder, rust and age visible in the ridges. The palette does not vary. The forms do.

That is the restraint that makes it work. When color is removed as a variable, the eye goes to silhouette: the smooth curve of the cylinder against the hard corner of the square, the corrugated metal between them breaking both. Three objects that share a register without sharing a shape.

The plants follow the same logic. One open rosette rising above the smooth black cylinder, pale enough to read clearly against the dark glaze. One trailing form spilling freely over the corrugated metal. One deep compact rosette in the square vessel, dark against dark, visible only when the light finds it.
